Inspired by The Lord of the Rings, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Chronicles of Narnia, and countless other adventures, Tracks & Tales invites children of all ages to become an Elemental Ranger.

Each week will feature stealth and strategy games, stories and adventures, nature puzzles and challenges. Apprentice Rangers will learn to respect and work with the four key elements: Fire / Light, Water, Earth and Air.

All classes take place take place on our secluded creekside property with a wide lawn and acres of huge trees. Most days are 6 hours long from 11am to 5pm, with two overnights offered during the summer. Each week will have a different focus and different challenges. Children are invited to come to as many weeks as they like. The more weeks they attend, the more elements they will learn and the more skills they will master.

Sign up online now for camps in June, July & August, 2012.

Clothing

Please provide one or two complete changes of clothing. We have a creek, mud, fog and often wet underbrush. Pack a swimsuit if it is warm. Wool clothing is very good if it is cool. Camouflage colors (greens, browns, greys) will make stealth games much easier. Waterproof clothing is ok, but tends to be loud, so don't rely on it alone. Ranger cloaks are welcome and can be made with a green blanket and a few sewn darts.

Food

Campers should bring a hearty lunch and large snack every day. We encourage "authentic" foods for the adventure: rustic bread, meat jerky, dried fruit and other foods that travelling rangers might carry easily. That said, rangers are known to enjoy fresh fruit and special treats when they present!

Overnights

We have two optional overnights this summer, one on Week Two (Fire) and one on Week Six (Finale). Please provide a sleeping bag, any necessary toiletries and medications. We will have a covered sleeping area. The aim is to be warm, dry and comfortable with as few modern conveniences as possible. But we do have an indoor bathroom nearby and available! We will offer suger-free, gluten-free dinner and breakfast, but please let us know if there are other special food needs.

Village Model

Our program is designed on a village model, and designed for children of all ages. We maintain a staff/student ratio of 6 to 1. Older children will be encouraged to help mentor younger ones, and given the freedom to explore their own challenges.
